Why N4 & N5 Matter

For both SSW and many job opportunities requiring a Bachelor’s degree, Japanese employers and immigration authorities expect candidates to demonstrate a minimum level of language proficiency.

• SSW Visa Requirement: Most SSW categories (especially in caregiving, agriculture, food service, and construction) require passing JLPT N4 or JFT-Basic.
• Bachelor’s Working Visa: While not always mandatory, knowing Japanese at N5 or N4 level gives you a strong advantage in securing employment and integrating into Japanese work culture.
